About the artist...

Marcos Arsenio XI (Ding) is a resident of San Francisco del Monte, Quezon City. Born 2nd of December, 1974 at Libmanan, Camarines Sur. He started dabbling with colors at a very early age of 4 using crayons, ballpens and pencil. He now works with oil, acrylic, pastel, water color and charcoal.

A nurse by profession, he attended his first art workshop dubbed “ Reviving the 1590 History Art Workshop” in 1986, under Angelito de Guzman; In 1991, Charcoal Painting Workshop;  and  in 1993 the GuhitKamay Summer Art Workshop.

His first foray into competition was in 1987 when he joined the Drawing Contest of Tarsician Adorers, He got the First Place; in 1992, Second Place on the spot Drawing Contest of United Doctors Medical Center; 1994, First Place,, on the spot Mural Painting Contest of the Ecology Ministry of San Pedro Bautista Parish; 1996, Third Place, on the spot Drawing Contest of the Eagles Club; 1997, One of Five Winners, Mural Design Contest of Piso Para sa Pasig; and in 2005, First Place in the Regional, Fourth Place in the National, on the spot Poster Making Contest, general public category, the Office of the Ombudsman.

Ding’s works are mostly mural-sized and has a very distinct style and vivid colors that evolved from his long experience with mural painting.

Ding is an art instructor of GuhitKamay from 1995 to 1997, 2000 and 2005. He is a founding member and art instructor of Handoguhit based in Sta. Ana, Manila from 1999 and 2000.

His first Exhibit was in 2000 with his group Handoguhit entitled “Pagmulat”,
